About us
Ecole Fondamentale Saint Louis de Gonzague is located in a rural area, on the hills of Nyabiyorwa, just outside Bujumbura. The Nyabiyorwa neighbourhood is very poor, having served as a base for rebel movements which have been destabilizing the country since 1972.
Over the years, education has been undermined in Nyabiyorwa owing to the recruitment of child-soldiers…
The school has three main challenges
We need to reduce overcrowding in classrooms so that students can study in better conditions, but we also need to succeed in providing the necessary textbooks.
The school is committed to developing multidisciplinary intelligence by offering a framework of extracurricular activities. To achieve this, it plans to expand its club offerings to allow new talents to emerge.
Its mission is to train competent young people to succeed in the national competitive exam, thus enabling them to be selected for post-secondary schools and then universities. It also aims to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of continuing education to reduce school dropout rates..
